Co-Founders of the new Gaudino’s
JOMARIE AMATO CEO & co-Founder
JoMarie, the granddaughter of Peter Gaudino and daughter of Jack and Mary Genovesi, worked at the original Gaudino’s Italian Market extensively during her youth. After graduating from Fraser High School (’82), she attended Oakland University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She taught for many years in the Fraser Public school district. While working at the market, she met her husband, Thomas Amato. They now have three children, Drew, Gabi, and Nick. JoMarie is excited to bring Gaudino’s back to St. Clair Shores, restoring the building that her father built, and is passionate about reinvigorating the legacy of Gaudino’s.
THOMAS AMATO co-Founder
Thomas grew up in St. Clair Shores, attended Lake Shore High School (’81), and began working at Gaudino’s in 1980 where he met his future wife, JoMarie. While attending university, Tom was able to work part time at the market and the then-affiliated wholesale sausage making company J.G. Foods (Rinaldi sausage). After graduating from Wayne State University and later the University of Michigan, Tom worked in the automotive industry, eventually becoming CEO & President of a major supplier, and is now the CEO & President of a leading diversified industrial company. As Tom’s friends and co-workers would attest, he is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and loves Italian food. He jumped at the prospect of acquiring the property at 27919 Harper. He is excited to support JoMarie and the Gaudino’s operating team by leveraging his travel and business experience and is never shy to offer ideas to make the Gaudino’s customer experience better.
